New Delhi: Politician-turned-governor-turned-Modi-baiter Satya Pal Malik Friday exposed himself during an interview with one of the finest interviewers Karan Thapar.

Thapar was at his best in what he does with his guests – forcing his guest to say things which are enough to sensationalise the political arena.

During the interview, Malik intended to settle his score with the Modi government for sacking him as the governor but he inadvertently ended up exposing his hidden agenda.

From steering controversy around the Pulwama attack to saying PM Modi has no problem with corruption, Malik has been attacking Modi for quite a long time.

But such was the impact of Thapar that the opposition grabbed Malik’s Friday allegations with both hands. This included Congress’ disqualified MP Rahul Gandhi tweeting the interview to attack PM Modi and his government.

All was going well and Malik was sounding like a disgruntled former employee until he jumped up to claim that BJP will become a thing of the past because of the Adani issue.

“Adani issue will demolish BJP to the extent that it would not even remain in distant memory,” Malik told Thapar answering a question.

Had Malik stuck to his grievances as a result of the bitterness due to his sacking, he would have ‘safely’ found a few sympathisers. But the moment he went on to make a statement of opposition, he exposed his agenda in front of the country.

The opposition was and is still blowing the Adani issue out of proportion as if it was a eureka moment for them against Modi.

From the demand of a Supreme Court-monitored probe or a joint parliamentary committee (JPC), to now JPC along with an SC-monitored probe in order to keep the issue alive, opposition parties led by Congress were already exposed for shifting goalposts on the matter.

Moreover, Gandhi continued to repeat “whose money was Rs 20,000 crore” for quite a few days even after his disqualification until Adani Group told that the said money was a proceed of the stake sale.

Despite the issue blowing up on the opposition’s face, the jury is still out until the SC-monitored committee gives its report in a time-bound manner.

But Malik’s firm belief that the Adani issue is enough to make BJP history during the interview with Thapar exposed the political motives behind his rant.

In the meantime, the opposition was evidently gloating over the allegations of a disgruntled friend-turned-foe who admitted in the same interview that he made up a story about PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and retracted his statement.

He himself proved that he was untrustworthy but he was still celebrated by all the people who remain in search of any anti-Modi narrative.

BJP spokespersons and many other pro-BJP handles kept attacking Malik for shifting goalposts in the last few years on almost every issue he raised but his comment on the Adani issue established his political agenda eroding the sympathies he could have earned.

Most importantly, Malik joined opposition parties in blaming Modi for the Pulwama attack on the CRPF convoy without realising that it actually helps the prime minister.
