Bhopal, Jun 27 (PTI) The Union government formed National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL) to increase export activities in the cooperative sector so that farmers get maximum benefits from their produce, Madhya Pradesh Cooperative Minister Vishwas Sarang said on Friday.
Addressing a state-level workshop here, Sarang said the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Federation and Mandi Board with NCEL to promote the export of spices institutionally will greatly help farmers.
"With this the products of the farmers will not only get a fair price but the cooperative movement will also be strengthened. A total of 1578 societies of Madhya Pradesh have taken membership of NCEL," he added.
Describing the cooperative sector as an important part of agriculture, Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Aidal Singh Kansana said MP was a leader in this aspect and had won the Krishi Kisan Award seven times.
Through the MoU, farmers will get the right price for their produce on delivery as per demand, Additional Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal said adding that MP exports paddy, spices, coriander, chilli, bananas etc.
Now farmers will be able to get direct benefit from these, he added.
NCEL Managing Director Anupam Kaushik said direct link to international markets will boost farmers' incomes.
"We are striving towards prosperity through cooperation and progress through export. We will move forward with the cooperation and support of the Madhya Pradesh government and its various departments," he added. PTI MAS BNM
