Lucknow, Jan 15 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government is drafting a new Excise Policy 2026-27 to accelerate industrial investment in the state and strengthen revenue resources, officials said on Thursday.
Under the new policy, the establishment of distillery plants in the state will be encouraged, along with serious consideration of various facilities to promote exports.
According to an official statement, the state government believes that to make the economy self-reliant, it is essential to increase revenue, attract investment, and create an industry-friendly environment.
Favourable policies for distillery plants will not only lead to an increase in revenue but also create employment opportunities at the local level, it added.
Establishment of new distillery units in the state will be made simpler and more attractive, and deliberations are underway to make the licensing process more transparent and time-bound, rationalise the fee structure, and provide ease in necessary approvals, the statement said.
This will increase investors' confidence in the state, and Uttar Pradesh will emerge as a major hub in the distillery industry.
The expansion of the distillery industry is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, it said. PTI ABN BAL BAL
