New Delhi, Jul 15 (PTI) Vanya Steels is in the process of investing Rs 100 crore to set up a 10 MW waste-to-energy power plant for captive usage, a company official said.
The power plant is being set up at the company's facility in Koppal, Karnataka.
The project is expected to be commissioned by July 31, 2025.
"Using advanced Waste Heat Recovery Boiler (WHRB) technology, the project will convert industrial waste heat into clean electricity, marking a significant milestone in sustainable manufacturing for the region," said Krishan Kumar Jallan, Founder & Chairman of A-One Steel Group.
The 10 MW power project is being executed through the company’s subsidiary Vanya Steels with an investment of around Rs 100 crore at its Koppal facility, he said.
The WHRB-based captive power plant will repurpose residual heat from the steelmaking process, energy that is traditionally lost to the environment and convert it into a reliable source of green power. This will reduce dependence on grid electricity, lower operational costs, and cut carbon emissions, advancing both environmental goals and energy security, Jallan said.
