Nagpur (Maharashtra): On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) unit of Maharashtra raided the house of Advocate Satish Uke in Nagpur and detained him.

According to sources, raids were related to alleged financial transactions and land dealings.

Satish Uke is a lawyer of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Nana Patole. Earlier Uke had challenged the affidavit of Leader of Opposition of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Devendra Fadnavis.

In the application, the lawyer alleged that Fadnavis filed a false affidavit in 2014. He hid two criminal cases of cheating and forgery, registered against him in 1996 and 1998, Uke mentioned.

On this, Senior Congress leader Nana Patole said, "Uke dragged Fadnavis in court. Hence, to settle the score, BJP is misusing ED against Uke. Those who are speaking against BJP, are being targeted by using central agencies. We are ready for the battle."

Earlier, in July 2018, Uke was arrested by the Economic Offences Wing of the Nagpur Police Crime Branch for offences he allegedly committed 17 years ago, in 2001.
