Bhubaneswar Dec 25 (PTI) Fans of Shah Rukh Khan go gaga over the release of ‘Pathaan’, as they cut cakes and danced before entering theatres in Odisha on Wednesday when the film was released across the country.
They distributed the cakes among themselves and a life-size photo of the megastar was also not deprived of its share.
Some of the fans came with loudspeakers and they danced to the tune of ‘Pathaan’ songs before proceeding inside the theatre. They also raised slogans like ‘SRK Zindabad’.
The movie, which faced calls for a boycott over its song "Besharam Rang", also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
Pathaan shows in theatres of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack witnessed packed audiences on Wednesday.
“I have never been so excited to watch a movie. I have been awake since 5 am. It's a full paisa vasool film. I will watch it a few more times, said Kunal Panigrahi, an SRK fan.
Another youth, Faizan, claimed he and his friends have booked 35 tickets for the next 20 days.
“We are the biggest fans of SRK. We will come every day in a group to watch Pathaan,” said Faizan, who has come from his village 50 kilometres away from Bhubaneswar.
Manpreet asserted it is a patriotic film and those opposing it do not know that as they did not watch it.
“We were chanting Vande Mataram and Jay Hind inside the theatre,” Manpreet said.
However, despite the cheer from fans, one of the theatres faced protest by members of Kalinga Sena, a local outfit, who tore posters of the film and raised slogans against the actors in presence of policemen.
“It’s a vulgar movie, there are lots of obscene scenes in it,” Kalinga Sena chief Hemant Rath said.
Asked if he had watched Pathaan, Rath replied in the negative.
“I came to know about vulgar scenes from the media. The Censor Board people must have gone crazy as they have passed this type of movie. I will write to the prime minister and the Union home minister,“ he said. PTI SUF NN NN
