Pieter Mulier
New Delhi, Feb 6 (PTI) Prada Group and Versace on Friday announced the appointment of designer Pieter Mulier as the Chief Creative Officer of Versace, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the luxury fashion house.
In a joint statement, the companies said Mulier will report to Versace Executive Chairman Lorenzo Bertelli and will be tasked with building on the Italian fashion house’s strong legacy while steering its creative direction into the future.
"When we considered the Versace acquisition, we identified Pieter Mulier as the right person for the brand. We believe that he can truly unlock Versace’s full potential and that he will be able to engage in a fruitful dialogue with the brand’s strong legacy. We are excited to begin this journey together," Bertelli said.
Mulier brings with him decades of experience in shaping distinctive aesthetics across some of the world’s leading fashion houses.
Over the course of his career, he has worked closely with designer Raf Simons and contributed to the success of brands such as Jil Sander, Dior and Calvin Klein, before taking on his current role as Creative Director of Maison Alaia.
After studying design and architecture, Mulier was selected by Simons to work with him at Jil Sander, where he served as Head of Accessories, Shoes and Bags.
He later became Design Director at Christian Dior, followed by a stint as Global Creative Director at Calvin Klein, and was subsequently appointed Creative Director of Alaia.
The Prada Group completed its acquisition of Versace in December 2025, capping a deal first announced in April 2025 under which Prada agreed to buy 100 per cent of the brand from US-based Capri Holdings for about USD 1.38 billion.
The transaction, one of the largest in the Italian luxury sector in recent years, brought the Medusa-emblazoned house back under Italian ownership after several years.
