VH1 Supersonic kickstarts with performances by Prateek Kuhad, OAFF, Savera

Pune: Thousands of music lovers thronged Pune's Mahalaxmi Lawns as the 2023 edition of VH1 Supersonic Music Festival commenced with performances by artists such as Prateek Kuhad, OAFF and Savera.

The three-day music extravaganza returns after a gap of three years with the line-up including some of the biggest names from the scene -- Annie Marie, CKay, Divine, Tyga and Farhan Akhtar -- to name a few.  The opening act of day one was by Mozez X PlanB, followed by numerous artists such as Harshal, Ankan, Sunflower Tape machine and Earl Gateshead among others.

Headliner Prateek Kuhad performed his hit songs including "Tune Kaha", "The Last Time", "Dil Beparwah", "Kasoor", and "Cold/Mess", among others.

As OAFF and  Savera performed their superhit songs "Doobey" and "Gehraiyaan" from 2022 movie "Gehraiyaan", the duo present a surprise to their fans.

"We have a surprise for you and you’re not ready for this," the duo said as actor Siddhant Chaturvedi made an appearance and rapped on stage.

Indian independent artist Kavya gave a stellar performance on some of her hit songs such as "Bleeding out" and "Affection".

"I love making music and performing my own songs," said Kavya, thanking the audience after her performance.

The venue was a colourful space with installations all around, a circus-themed stage, a Nexa stage and several painted neon and graffiti walls.

The organiser also had a 'super flea' market with various stalls inside, selling everything from handmade products to artisan pottery and block print clothes. There were various food stalls over the venue serving a vast array of cuisines.

The festival went on till 11 pm with the last performance by electronic musician and DJ Fracture.

The international sensations -- Anne Marie of "Rockabye" fame and "Love Nwantiti" singer Ckay -- are performing for the first time in India. Their performances are scheduled for February 26.
