While the dance form seems to be quite colourful it does have a meaning attached to it.

According to popular belief, It pays homage to the beauty of women. The Blou and the Djela are two masks that influenced Zaouli. The second name for it is Djela lou Zaouli, which translates to Djela's daughter Zaouli. The activity combines weaving (the outfit), music (the band and song), dancing, and sculpting (the mask) into a singular performance.

Zaouli encourages integration and social cohesiveness while serving an educational, entertaining, and artistic purpose. It also preserves the environment and communicates the cultural identity of those who wear it.

Video of this magnificent dance performance went viral on the internet and it received over 2 million views and 50,000 likes in no time. Moreover, people are continuing to comment on how beautiful this unique dance performance looks.
