New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday, urging immediate de-escalation and a return to dialogue amid the escalating Iran-Israel conflict.

The discussion, which took place earlier today, comes as tensions in the Middle East reach a critical juncture following a series of military strikes.

In a post on X, Modi expressed deep concern over the recent escalations, reiterating India’s longstanding position advocating for diplomacy and peace. “Spoke with President of Iran @drpezeshkian. We discussed in detail about the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations. Reiterated our call for immediate de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward and for early restoration of regional peace, security and stability,” the Prime Minister wrote.

The US on early Sunday morning attacked Iran's Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz nuclear sites with the aim of destroying the country's nuclear programme. US President Trump warned of additional strikes if Iran retaliates.

The strikes come amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, with the U.S. aligning its actions in support of Israel’s efforts to disrupt Tehran’s nuclear program.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has indicated that the targeted facilities contained no nuclear material at the time of the attack, ruling out immediate radioactive risks.
