Nine terrorists killed in counter-terrorism operation in Pakistan

Peshawar, Jul 19 (PTI) At least nine terrorists were killed and three officials, including a Pakistan Army officer, were injured during a joint counter-terrorism operation by police and security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday.

Two police officials and a major rank army officer were injured during the operation launched following credible intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the Shinawari Zargari area of Hangu district, police said.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Abbas Majeed Marwat said nine terrorists had been killed so far in the operation that was still ongoing.

Marwat said the operation continued with security forces conducting a full-scale offensive against terrorists.

Another police official said the injured were moved to the hospital for medical treatment, where their condition was reportedly stable.

Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi held a telephonic conversation with the injured personnel and lauded their bravery. PTI AYZ PY PY
