New Delhi: Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif Sunday shared dreams of Kashmir’s freedom on Kashmir Solidarity Day, a national holiday observed in Pakistan on 5 February annually.

Sharif took to Twitter to show Pakistan’s solidarity with people of Kashmir even as Pakistan continues to occupy the Kashmir’s territory known as Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).

People of IIOJK are waging a relentless struggle of epic proportions to realise their dream of freedom from the Indian yoke. Through their sacrifices, they have kept the torch of freedom burning. It is my faith that their dreams will soon see the light of day. https://t.co/KIiIR1CES6

Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed to show Pakistan's support and unity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmiri separatists' efforts to secede from India, and to pay homage to the Kashmiris who have died in the conflict.

Kashmir Day was first proposed by Qazi Hussain Ahmad of the Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan in 1990, and supported by Nawaz Sharif.
