Residents said a loud explosion was heard in the late morning in the vicinity of the military side of the airport in Kabul.

They said the area had been sealed off by security forces, and all roads had been closed.

Last month, three Chinese nationals were wounded when Islamic State or ISIS-K ISIL militants entered the hotel. All three militants were killed.

There have been dozens of blasts and suicide militant attacks in Kabul since April 2022 where hundreds of civilians and security force persons were killed.
