New Delhi: At least thirty people have been killed in a mass shooting in a north-eastern province of Thailand, local by a former police officer, police said.
The incident occurred at a child daycare centre near the Uthai Sawan Subdistrict in Nong Bua Lamphu Province. Thai police have said the gunman in the mass shooting was an ex-police officer.
He is thought to have been driving a white four-door pickup truck.
So far, the death toll is at 31, with both children and adults being victims of the attack. The gunman is still at large. Police said that the attacker used both shooting gunshots and stabbing with a knife killing children and elders.
Earlier today, Deputy Police spokesperson Archon Kraitong said: "There are at least 20 dead but details are still coming in."
