Ballia (UP), Jul 7 (PTI) Two policemen were suspended for indiscipline in connection with the beating of a few people while they were returning from a graveyard, also known as Karbala, after a tazia procession.
According to police, late Sunday in Kharika village, some members of a tazia procession snapped an electric wire when they were moving through the area, leading to a confrontation with the locals.
Ballia Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh Monday said in connection with the fight, Sub-Inspector Jitendra Pandey and Constable Anand Kumar, both posted at Revati Police Station, were suspended.
The two have been accused of gross negligence towards duty, indifference, inaction and indiscipline.
In addition, Station House Officer Prashant Kumar has been sent to Police Lines with immediate effect over laxity in supervision.
The SP said the charge of investigating the policemen's role has been given to the Sadar circle officer.
