Dehradun, Jun 22 (PTI) Thirty-five Nepalese citizens held in captivity in Uttarakhand have been rescued in a joint action by the Embassy of Nepal, a social outfit named KIN India, and the Uttarakhand Police.
They were rescued from Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district on Saturday.
The Nepalese Embassy, in a statement, said they were tortured by their captors.
Three people involved in the incident have been arrested, and the investigation is on in the matter, it said. The youths, who belong to various districts of Nepal, were lured to Kashipur and allegedly held captive.
Their captors also extorted money from them, the statement read. Action was initiated in the matter after the Embassy of Nepal was informed about it. PTI ALM VN VN
