New Delhi: Former Delhi education minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia became the first Indian politician in India to engage in an interactive session with Grok, a generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot of social media platform X.

Sisodia, who is known to have reformed the education system in Delhi during his tenure as the education minister from 2013 onwards, sought suggestions from Grok regarding policy changes needed for transforming India's education system.

To a question asked by Sisodia on why government schools across India are still in crisis, Grok responded with a detailed answer. "In 1947, India had approximately 1.4 lakh schools, most of them government-run, with few private institutions. Around 1.4 crore children were enrolled. About 20–25% of children aged 6–14 attended school, and the literacy rate was 12%."

"Government schools remain in crisis today due to inadequate funding, shortage of teachers, lack of infrastructure, corruption, and political interference. There is a growing shift towards private schools. Implementing the Delhi model nationally could bring change,” the X AI chatbot replied.

In a reply to Sisodia, Grok lauded Delhi's education model and stressed its adoption nationwide.

Though many social media users appreciate transparency in conversation between the two, a few were in disagreement with Sisodia's claims.

Such interactive sessions between AAP leaders and AI chatbots could increase in the run-up to the assembly elections in Gujarat and Punjab (the only state under its rule), scheduled in 2027.
