Lucknow, Jun 29 (PTI) Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday took a dig at the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh over the sale of "fake" fertilisers, saying the condition of the fertiliser is same as that of the BJP.

Sharing a video of a media report which alleged sale of fake fertilisers in sacks with pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Western Uttar Pradesh, he said on X, "Hai Chamcham Bori Naqli Maal, BJP Jaisa Fertilizer Ka Haal" (While the sacks are shining, the fertiliser kept in them is fake. The condition of the fertiliser is the same as that of the BJP".

BJP state spokesperson Harischandra Srivastava countered the SP chief's statement and said, "The reason for SP chief Shriman Akhilesh ji's trouble is the Yogi Adityanath-led government's corruption and crime-free Uttar Pradesh policy." He said, "Whenever action is taken against criminals and corrupt people, the SP chief gets upset." Srivastava said, "Just a few days ago, on the instructions of Yogi government's Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, several fertiliser sellers were investigated, action was taken against many and the agriculture officer of Sitapur district was also suspended." The BJP spokesperson claimed, "I think Akhilesh ji is in pain due to the investigation and action being taken by Agriculture Minister Shahi regarding fertiliser in the districts." PTI CDN DV DV
