Asked to pay toll tax, man opens fire in Punjab’s Kapurthala

Kapurthala, Jun 26 (PTI) A man opened fire when he was asked to pay toll tax at Dhilwan toll plaza on Jalandhar-Amritsar national highway, police said on Thursday.

Sometime after midnight, a car arrived at the toll plaza. When the toll staff asked the driver to pay the toll tax, one of the occupants came out of the vehicle and started firing, they said.

Dhilwan SHO Dalwinder Singh said the toll employees had a providential escape and the accused fled the scene immediately after the firing.

Police said they have registered a case and begun investigation. PTI COR SUN NB NB
