Banned gutkha worth Rs 6.39 lakh seized in Palghar; shopkeeper arrested

Palghar, Dec 28 (PTI) A shopkeeper was arrested for allegedly stocking and selling banned gutkha products in Palghar district, a police official said on Sunday.

He was held in a raid on December 25, the Pelhar police station official said.

"Gutkha worth Rs 6.39 lakh was seized from Javed Ahmed Zaheer alias Ahmed Ansari (38), who was arrested under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Food Safety and Standards Act," he said. PTI COR BNM
