Kolkata, Jul 8 (PTI) Two persons suspected of having links with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) have been arrested from West Bengal’s Purba Bardhaman district, a senior officer of the state Special Task Force (STF) said on Tuesday.
The accused have been identified as Rakesh Kumar Gupta, a resident of Kolkata’s Bhowanipur, and Mukesh Rajak, a resident of Panagarh.
"These two have links to Pakistan’s ISI," the officer said, adding that the duo were in touch with a few people in the neighbouring country.
According to the STF, both men were working for an NGO and had been residing in rented accommodation in Memari, from where they were arrested.
Acting on a tip-off, STF personnel conducted a raid on Saturday and arrested them.
Mukesh was picked up from the rented house, while Rakesh was apprehended from a nursing home where he had been admitted for treatment.
The duo was sent to seven-day police remand after they were produced in court in Kolkata on Monday, he said. PTI SCH MNB
