Bomb threat forces evacuation of Palghar school; nothing suspicious found during search

Palghar, Jun 25 (PTI) A private school in Maharashtra's Palghar district received a bomb threat via an email on Wednesday morning, prompting an immediate evacuation of students, teachers and other staffers, police said.

The bomb threat turned out to be a hoax as nothing suspicious was found after an intensive search of the school premises in Nallasopara, a distant suburb of Mumbai, an official of the Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police said.

The private school received an email stating a bomb has been planted in its premises. On being alerted, police immediately reached the spot and evacuated students, teachers and other staff members, he said.

Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) personnel carried out an intensive search of the school premises, but did not find any explosive device, leading them to declare the threat a hoax, according to the official. PTI COR RSY
