Mumbai, Jul 7 (PTI) Two persons were booked after a 32-year-old chartered accountant committed suicide in Mumbai's Santacruz East area due to distress over alleged extortion by the duo to the tune of Rs 3 crore, a police official said on Monday.

Raj Leela More consumed poison in his home in Yashwant Nagar on Saturday night and left behind a three-page suicide note detailing his ordeal, the Vakola police station official said.

"As per his note, Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi had extorted Rs 3 crore in the last 18 months. A probe has found More and Parwani met on a social media site and later got physically intimate on several occasions. These were filmed by Parwani, who along with Qureshi threatened to leak the clips on social media," the official said.

"They knew More worked in a well-known firm and had invested crores of rupees in the share market. The accused took his car and also got him to transfer money to them. This amount was transferred from his company's account. Distressed after Parwani and Qureshi reached him home and assaulted his mother, More committed suicide," the official said.

Based on his note and statements from his kin, a case of abetment of suicide and other offences under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered against Parwani and Qureshi, the official added. PTI ZA BNM
