Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jun 20 (PTI) The auction process of a hotel in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar came to an end after Maharashtra minister Sanjay Shirsat's son, who had won the bid, failed to pay a stipulated sum by the 4pm deadline on Friday, an official said.

The hotel is a prime property in Vedant Nagar area and the winning bid by Siddhant Shirsat, son of the state's social justice minister, had come in for severe attack from opposition parties, including the Shiv Sena (UBT), which sought to know the antecedents of the money he was pledging for the project.

Shirsat had later said his son was withdrawing from the project.

"The auction process came to an end after the highest bidder (Siddhant Shirsat's firm) failed to pay a stipulated sum by 4pm today. We will start the process afresh," the official said. PTI AW BNM
