Mandi/Shimla (HP) Jul 3 (PTI) Mandi district suffered unprecedented loss of life and property in the devastating cloudbursts and flash floods on Monday and the Seraj Assembly constituency was the worst hit, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur said on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference in Mandi, the former chief minister and five-time MLA from Seraj lamented that the development which took place in the constituency during the past 27 years has been ruined and would take years to restore the damaged utilities.
He said that Jhenjli, Jarol, Chuni, Lambathch, Thunag, Bagsyad, Bara, Thachi and Bakhali have suffered massive losses and casualties.
Besides loss of human lives and cattle, communication facilities have been snapped, a 16 MW hydropower project has been completely washed away, more 500 houses, 25 bridges have been damaged and apple orchards have been swept away, he said.
Nachan, Karsog, Drang, Dharampur, and Mandi constituencies and adjoining areas have also suffered colossal losses, he said and urged the government to take up the relief, rescue and restoration work on a war footing. PTI COR BPL MNK MNK
