New Delhi: On Thursday, Congress president Sonia Gandhi joined Rahul Gandhi and other yatris in their Karnataka-leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Sonia Gandhi arrived in Mysuru on Monday afternoon for the party's ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka, which was on a two-day break for Ayudha Puja and Vijayadashami.

On Thursday morning yatra again resumed with Congress president joining fellow yatris led by Rahul Gandhi.

In Mysuru, the yatra moved as a colourful procession amid the beating of drums, with artists in traditional costumes walking with Congress leaders and workers to match the town's festive spirit.

Yatra will be entering the historic town of Srirangapatna on Thursday, from where Tipu Sultan once ruled. Tipu Sultan's mausoleum is located in this city.

Sonia Gandhi had not campaigned for the party during elections recently due to health reasons.

It is after a long time, Congress president is participating in the party's public event where a large number of Congress workers are gathered.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra is almost a five-month journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi will undertake the entire 3,570 km Yatra.

As proclaimed by the party, Bharat Jodo Yatra is a march against price rise and unemployment and is about justice, compassion and equanimity in society.
