New Delhi, Jul 11 (PTI) Food and Supplies Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Friday said the Delhi government has approved the integration of electronic point of sale (ePoS) devices with digital weighing machines at all fair price ration shops.

This move will ensure real-time authentication and accurate delivery of ration to every beneficiary by strengthening transparency in the public distribution system, Sirsa said.

The minister directed for strict compliance in issuing ration to all One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) beneficiaries in Delhi and regular maintenance of ePoS machines, said a statement.

"Strict action will be taken against PDS dealers denying ration to eligible beneficiaries," he said.

The Food and Civil Supplies department will begin integrating ePoS devices with digital weighing machines at all 1,967 fair price shops (FPS) across the city, the minister said after a meeting with officers of the department and the representatives of Delhi Sarkari Ration Dealers Sangh.

"The integration of ePoS and weighing machines is a long-awaited reform that will eliminate manual discrepancies, ensure real-time authentication and guarantee accurate quantity delivery to every beneficiary," said Sirsa.

All FPS must prominently display ONORC-related eligibility details on display boards to ensure migrant beneficiaries can access their entitlements without confusion or hardship, he said.

The integration of ePoS with weighing machines will enable real-time recording of weight data during each transaction, thereby helping the department ensure accurate ration delivery, prevent stock diversion and minimize the scope for malpractices in the system, the minister added. PTI VIT AS AS
