New Delhi, Jul 20 (PTI) The Delhi Police has busted an interstate drug syndicate and seized 411 kilograms of cannabis worth around Rs 1.9 crore, an official said on Sunday.
Three alleged drug traffickers were arrested from Dwarka, while their supplier was nabbed from Odisha, he said.
The operation was conducted by a team of crime branch following tip-off about the syndicate's movements.
"Acting on the tip-off, the team intercepted a truck and a car near Sector 19 in Dwarka, while the accused were allegedly transferring the cannabis from the truck into the car," said the police officer.
Those arrested from the spot were identified as Lokesh Bhardwaj (27), Ashish Khasa alias Ashu (20), and Moeen Khan (24), police said.
During interrogation, they revealed that the contraband had been sourced from Odisha. Based on their disclosures, the team tracked and arrested the supplier, Srikant Prasad (33), from Odisha on July 10.
The police said that Lokesh and Ashish are residents of Maheshwari village in Rewari in Haryana and got into the drug trade for easy money. Moeen Khan, a resident of Nuh, used to transport the contraband in rented trucks.
Srikant, a native of Bihar, allegedly has past involvement in drug trafficking and had been operating from Odisha to supply marijuana across Delhi, Haryana and other states.
Further investigation is underway to trace the complete supply chain. PTI BM NB
