Mumbai, Jul 17 (PTI) The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1,014 cartons of foreign cigarettes valued at Rs 13.18 crore that had been declared fraudulently as "coated calcium carbonate", an official said on Thursday.

The consignment was intercepted at Nhaha Sheva port on specific intelligence by the Mumbai Zonal Unit of the DRI, leading to the arrest of one man, he added.

"The cargo had been declared as coated calcium carbonate to make it look like a genuine import and mislead authorities. One person, who was responsible for the import, was arrested and remanded in 14-day judicial custody," the official said. PTI DC BNM
