New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths picked up a computer from the office of Delhi’s deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday as part of its investigation into the alleged scam in the implementation of excise policy in the city-state, said the source.
CBI sources said due process was followed in the seizure of a computer from Sisodia’s office.
Following the visit of CBI officials to the office of Sisodia in the secretariat, Sisodia tweeted: “CBI has reached my office again today. They are welcome. They raided my house and office, searched my locker, and even conducted a probe in my village. Nothing has been found against me, or will be, because I have done nothing wrong. I have worked for the education of Delhi’s children with honesty.”
CBI sources refused to term it as a raid but added that the “visit” and “seizure” took place after following all the due protocols in this regard.
The CBI has already filed a chargesheet in connection with the excise policy case but Sisodia was not named as an accused in the first charge sheet. Last year too, the CBI had searched Sisodia’s office and residence in connection with the case following the registration of an FIR naming the deputy CM as a suspect.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) too is probing the matter from the money laundering angle.
According to the FIR in the case, irregularities in the implementation of the excise policy allegedly led to a loss to the state exchequer and money allegedly changed hands.
Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena had recommended a CBI probe in July last year following a report from Delhi’s chief secretary in this regard.
