Fire breaks out at garage in Thane; none hurt

Thane, Jul 14 (PTI) A fire broke out at an automobile parts shop and garage in Maharashtra's Thane city on Monday morning, a civic official said.

There were no reports of casualty in the blaze that erupted at the establishment in the Kopri area around 8 am, he said.

Personnel from the disaster management cell, the local fire brigade, Kopri police, and Mahavitaran (power utility) swiftly responded with a JCB machine, two fire engines, a rescue van, and a water tanker, said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the disaster management cell, Thane Municipal Corporation He said the fire originated in a scrap storage area of the garage, and it spread, destroying several items in the shop.

Six scrap two-wheelers, engine oil cans, and electrical wiring, among other items, were gutted in the blaze that was doused in an hour, the official said, adding that the cause is yet to be ascertained. PTI COR ARU
