Ballia (UP), Jul 8 (PTI) Former prime minister Chandrashekhar was on Tuesday remembered on his 18th death anniversary through a series of programmes held across Ballia district, including his native village Ibrahimpatti.
The main commemorative event was organised at Chandrashekhar Udyan near the district headquarters, where Uttar Pradesh Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh, and Legislative Council member Ravishankar Singh Pappu paid floral tributes at his statue and recalled his contributions to the nation.
Similar programmes were held at Chandrashekhar Park on Bilthara road, and at various locations across the district. In the former PM's native village Ibrahimpatti, people gathered to offer heartfelt tributes to the late leader, often hailed as the "Young Turk" of Indian politics.
Chandrashekhar, known for his socialist ideals and mass connect, served as the 8th prime minister of India from November 1990 to March 1991. PTI COR ABN KVK KVK
