Four booked for trying to transfer Rs 3.6 cr from BJP MLC's development funds; use of AI suspected

Mumbai, Jul 3 (PTI) Four persons were booked for allegedly trying to transfer Rs 3.60 crore from BJP MLC Prasad Lad's local area development fund, a Mumbai police official said on Thursday.

Lad informed Sion police here that the four tried to transfer the amount from Ratnagiri in the state's Konkan region to Beed in Marathwada, following which an FIR related to cyber fraud and other offences was registered, he said.

The MLC has claimed the four accused used his fake letterhead, signature and voice recording, likely generated using artificial intelligence (AI), to hoodwink district officials to transfer the money.
