Four cybercriminals held in J'khand's Giridih

Giridih, Jul 3 (PTI) Four cybercriminals were arrested in Jharkhand's Giridih district, police said on Thursday.

The accused were allegedly defrauding people by sending fake APK files in the name of KYC updates for various banks, Aadhaar updates and courier services, they said.

"The accused were arrested from the Jhijhri area near Giridih bus stand. They are residents of different areas in the district. Five mobile phones and six SIM cards were also recovered from their possession," cyber DSP Abid Khan told reporters.

He said police received information through the Pratibimb portal that some individuals were carrying out cyber fraud through phones.

The accused were identified as Dipu Kumar Mandal alias Deepak Mandal (22), Chhote Mandal (30), Shravan Rai (21) and Mohit Kumar Mandal (19).

The DSP said a case is registered against Chhote Mandal at Deoghar cyber police station and 65 cases of cyber fraud are pending against him in Telangana-Hyderabad. Similarly, cases are also registered against Deepak Mandal at Ahilyapur Police Station and Shravan Rai at Giridih Cyber police station. PTI COR SAN SAN RG
