Mumbai, Jan 28 (PTI) French Navy ship Marne, part of the Carrier Strike Group of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, has been on a goodwill visit to Mumbai from January 21 to 28, a defence spokesperson said on Saturday.

It is under the command of Commander Pierre-Alban Pancrazi, a defence statement quoted the spokesperson as saying.

While Charles de Gaulle and other ships of the CSG, namely Forbin and Provence, are berthed in Goa, fleet tanker Marne is anchored off Mumbai, the statement informed.

"In Mumbai, Cdr Pancrazi called on Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command and discussed subjects of mutual interest. During the ship's stay at the port, the crew visited various places of interest," it said.

The statement said defence engagement between the two nations has grown significantly, adding that the current CSG visit to Mumbai and Goa provided excellent training value and enhanced interoperability in the maritime domain.

"With common interest in bolstering regional peace and stability, the two navies remain committed to working together," it stated. PTI DC BNM BNM
