Gondia police destroy over 460 kg opium in Nagpur

Gondia, Jul 15 (PTI) Police in Maharashtra's Gondia destroyed more than 468 kilograms of opium that they had seized during various operations, officials said.

The banned drug was destroyed by way of incineration at the incineration unit of Maharashtra Enviro Power Ltd (MEPL) at Butibori in Nagpur on July 14, they said.

After getting the permission of the court, the police authorities destroyed 468.43 kilograms of opium as the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) guidelines, local crime branch in-charge Purushottam Aherkar said. PTI COR NP
