Shimla, Nov 13 (PTI) Himachal government is committed to ensure quality education for children studying in rural areas to enable them to face future challenges with confidence, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Thursday.
Interacting with a delegation of the Himachal Pradesh Government Primary Teachers Association who called on and submitted a memorandum regarding their various demands, Sukhu emphasised that teachers play a crucial role in achieving this objective.
He informed that the state government has undertaken comprehensive reforms in the education sector and assured the delegation that all their issues would be considered sympathetically, according to a statement issued here.
The present government has closed down schools which were opened rampantly during the previous BJP government without adequate staff and low enrollment of students merely for “political mileage”, the chief minister said.
Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools are being established in a phased manner in every assembly constituency, to boost the confidence of students studying in rural areas and prepare them to meet future challenges, he added.
To further improve the quality of education 100 CBSE based schools are being opened in the first phase. The Chief Minister said that English-medium education has been introduced across the state since last year and schools have been given the freedom to select smart uniforms for students. PTI BPL OZ OZ
