Shimla, Jan 24 (PTI) Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Tuesday greeted the people of Himachal Pradesh on the eve of its 53rd statehood day. The state function on the statehood day would be held at Hamirpur, the home district of the chief minister on Wednesday.
Extending warm wishes, Sukhu said after a long struggle of around two decades, Himachal Pradesh got full statehood on January 25, 1971.
He said it was possible only due to the constant efforts of people of the state under the leadership of the first chief minister Dr YS Parmar and the benevolence of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who had special affection towards the state and its people.
Remembering the contribution of the people in the developmental journey of Himachal Pradesh, the deputy chief minister said the present state government was committed towards all round development of the state.
He also remembered Dr YS Parmar and other state leaders, who contributed to the equitable and overall development of the state. PTI/BPL TDS TDS
