Important matters heard by the Delhi High Court on January 31, Tuesday: * HC sent to the Supreme Court a petition seeking uniform minimum age for marriage for both men and women.
* The PM CARES Fund is not a government fund as donations to it do not go to the Consolidated Fund of India and no third party information can be parted with irrespective of its status under the Constitution and the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the HC was informed.
* HC allowed a 13-year-old girl, a victim of sexual assault, to terminate her 25-week pregnancy in the interest of her life and education.
* The Centre has told the HC that a "sinister practice" is now becoming a norm where a motivated device is created by vested interest individuals and NGOs in certain categories of crime to give the offence a "political or communal flavour" of being backed by the government helping a particular community.
