Jammu Development Authority official arrested while accepting bribe

Jammu, Jul 18 (PTI) An employee of the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) was arrested on Friday while accepting a bribe from a man for allowing him to construct a double-storey building illegally, officials said here.

The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) received a complaint that Kewal Krishan, a junior official of the Khilafwarzi wing of the JDA, demanded illegal gratification for allowing the construction at Ballian Domana in Jammu.

An ACB spokesperson said that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant and had agreed to receive the first instalment of Rs 10,000.

With receipt of the complaint, ACB officials verified the veracity of the claim and registered a case. The ACB team then laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed, the spokesperson said. PTI AB NSD NSD
