Itanagar, Aug 29 (PTI) Stressing that there was a need for a transparent and timely examination system by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday said an annual calendar of recruitment drives should be set in advance.
Inaugurating the new APPSC office building in Itanagar, Khandu urged all departments to submit their requisitions on time so that recruitment processes are not delayed.
"We have learnt our lesson. Now, we must not repeat it or leave a chance for its recurrence. We have seen how much our youths had to suffer," he said.
Reiterating the state government's commitment to strengthening manpower in new districts, he said several posts have already been created.
Since August last year, 245 candidates have been selected through 10 departmental examinations, and the recruitment process for 277 more posts is underway, he said.
Lauding the APPSC for conducting this year's civil services examination in a time-bound manner, he noted that results were declared within 72 hours.
"Despite the challenges, the new commission stood up to the occasion and completely overhauled itself, and today has regained the confidence of the educated youth," he said.
Khandu said Arunachal Pradesh will host the two-day standing committee meeting of chairpersons of all state public service commissions in October at Ziro in Lower Subansiri district.
Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, local MLA Techi Kaso, and Itanagar's Mayor Tame Phassang were among those present at the inauguration function.
The new complex has 18 examination halls with a capacity to host more than 1,600 candidates, besides several interview rooms, office chambers and other requisite facilities. PTI UPL UPL SOM
