Kolkata Police STF unearths illegal arms manufacturing unit in Jharkhand

Kolkata, Jun 21 (PTI) The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police busted an illegal arms manufacturing unit and arrested two persons for allegedly running it from neighbouring Jharkhand, a senior officer said on Saturday.

A joint team of Kolkata Police STF, along with Jharkhand ATS and Gandhinagar outpost, conducted a raid at the house where a marriage was being held and unearthed a firearms manufacturing factory, he said..

"The raid was conducted at the house of Suraj Shaw and a marriage hall at Jaridih Uppar Bazar under Gandhinagar OP, Bokaro, Jharkhand. We unearthed an active improvised firearms manufacturing factory operating inside a warehouse in front of the marriage hall, and two persons were caught red-handed manufacturing firearms," he said.

Besides, semi-finished arms, police seized one lathe machine, one drill machine, one grinding and polishing machine, raw materials and cash amounting to Rs one lakh, he said. PTI SCH RG
