Chennai, Jul 3 (PTI) An accused in a fake visa case, who has been absconding for about 8 years, has been arrested, police said on Thursday.
Since one of the accused, Sundar, in the fake visa case was absconding, the trial court issued a warrant of arrest on September 20, 2017.
Due to sustained efforts, Sundar was arrested in a resort in the Nilgiris district, and he was produced before the court, a city police release said.
As many as 29 persons believed a false promise of fraudsters, assuring job visas, and they were duped of a total Rs 18 lakh, police said.
Those who deposited money were provided fake visas, and the case, registered in the year 2006, is pending in court, they added.
A charge sheet has been filed against 10 accused persons in the case. PTI VGN ADB
