Indore, Jul 6 (PTI) A man has submitted a complaint to police in Sagar in Madhya Pradesh accusing MLA Nirmala Sapre of threatening and abusing him for speaking against encroachments on grazing land, an official said on Sunday.
Sapre won the 2023 polls from Bina in Sagar district on a Congress ticket, before joining the ruling BJP in May last year without resigning from the assembly. This has resulted in Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar approaching the MP High Court seeking her disqualification as legislator.
In his complaint, Khimlasa resident Harkishan Sen, a cow vigilante who had served as office bearer of the Bajrang Dal, claimed he was actively working to get encroachments on grazing land removed in his native Magardha village, which is part of Sapre's Bina assembly seat.
After posting about the issue on Facebook, Sen in his complaint claimed Sapre called him at 1:20pm on Friday and threatened and abused him.
A purported audio clip of this conservation in Bundelkhandi dialect is being circulated.
Sen claimed he has submitted 111 memorandums on the issue to authorities in Sagar but no action has been taken.
Incidentally, Sen has not mentioned Sapre's designation as MLA in his complaint.
"We have received a complaint from Sen on Saturday, which is being looked into. No FIR has been registered in the case so far," said Pardeshipura police station house officer (SHO) RD Kanwa.
Efforts to contact Sapre were in vain. She did not respond to messages either. PTI COR LAL BNM
