Man held with nearly 2 kg opium in Ranchi

Ranchi, Sep 6 (PTI) A 27-year-old man was arrested with 1.7 kg of opium in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district on Saturday, a police officer said.

The accused hails from Kurkutiya under Khunti police station area.

“Acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed him from Dundigarha market. The value of the seized opium is estimated to be Rs 5 lakh,” SP (City) Ajeet Kumar said.

“The accused was illegally producing and selling opium,” he added.
