Lucknow, Jul 11 (PTI) The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Friday issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council, the Central Bar Association, the state government and the administrative side of the court for their responses on a PIL relating to the running of a marriage centre by advocates from a chamber at the old high court campus in Kaiserbag.
The bench has fixed July 22 for the next hearing in the matter.
A bench of Justices A R Masoodi and Shree Prakash Singh passed the order on the PIL, which was registered by the court after it got to know about the marriage centre during the hearing of a criminal writ petition.
On a perusal of a police report, the court had found that the said chamber was decorated with flowers and arrangements were made to host a marriage function.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, the court had ordered the filing of the suo-motu PIL.
While hearing the PIL, the court found it necessary to ascertain the views of the high court administration, Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh, Central Bar Association and the state government in the matter and issued notices to all of them. PTI COR KIS RC
