Ranchi, Sep 13 (PTI) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across Jharkhand till September 18.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Saturday was recorded at Chandwara in Koderma district (71.5 mm), followed by Tilaiya DVC (70 mm) and Koderma DVC (55 mm).
The IMD's Ranchi office also issued 'yellow alert' (be aware) for several districts, including Sahibganj, Deoghar, Godda, Latehar, Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, East and West Singhbhum, Khunti, Dumka, Giridih, Hazaribagh, Saraikela-Kharsawan, and Simdega.
"The state may experience heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty wind reaching speeds of 30-40 km per hour till 8.30 am on September 18," a bulletin issued by the Ranchi Meteorological Centre said.
According to the weatherman, temperatures are expected to decrease by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next two days.
In the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Saturday, Godda district recorded the highest temperature of 34.7 degrees Celsius, while Latehar recorded lowest temperature at 21.2 degree Celsius.
The state has recorded a 26 per cent surplus in rainfall this monsoon. The state received 1,078 mm of rainfall, compared to the normal rainfall of 907 mm, since June 1, the bulletin said. PTI RPS RPS ACD
