Modi Cabinet reshuffle: 10 new faces likely, some leaders may see organisational role

There is a strong buzz that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet may soon see an expansion.

Sources stated that up to 10 new ministers may be inducted into the council of ministers.

Some of the existing and former senior ministers may also be moved to the Bharatiya Janata Party's organisational role keeping in mind the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Party sources stated that leaders from several key states, to fulfill regional aspirations, are expected to be accommodated in the expansion as the BJP aims to expand in these.

It is also learnt that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may also rejig the portfolios of several of his ministers.

Currently, several ministers have been burdened with multiple portfolios, this may change and some of these may be allocated to the newly inducted ministers, sources added.

While some former senior ministers like Prakash Javadekar and Ravi Shankar Prasad may be moved to the organization, sources said.

The much-awaited cabinet reshuffle would be the second such rejig of the Narendra Modi cabinet after it was voted back to power in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Shinde faction of Shiv Sena 

Bharatiya Janata Party is understood to have offered positions to its new National Democratic Alliance partner Eknath Shinde-headed Shiv Sena faction. The two allies had recently formed a government in Maharashtra. And leaders in both parties are keen to further strengthen the alliance ahead of 2024.

Maharashtra has 48 Lok Sabha seats and is on the radar of the BJP for expansion.

As Shiv Sena and Shiromani Akali Dal, two of the oldest allies of the BJP, had earlier left the NDA, this move is also expected to help ensure send a message that the BJP is more than willing to accommodate its allies in leadership roles.
