Indore, Jul 11 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday launched the 'Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam' campaign in Indore to increase greenery in urban areas.

As part of the scheme, 51,000 saplings will be planted on a 5-acre plot to create a "nagar van" or urban forest.

Yadav launched the campaign by planting a sapling in Kesharbagh Road area here and also performed 'bhoomi pujan' of the nagar van.

"Indian culture and tradition has been giving the message of conservation of nature for thousands of years. In such a situation, it is our responsibility to save the environment by planting a large number of trees for the coming generations," Yadav said.

"Today, when the world is witnessing different wars, India is the only country which gives the message of live and let live through its liberal culture," he added.

State Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and the Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava were present at the event. PTI HWP MAS BNM
