Mumbai, Jan 28 (PTI) A 45-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh from her employer's house in suburban Khar here, police said on Saturday.
The police on Friday arrested the accused who was employed as a domestic help in a flat in a housing society, an official from Khar police station said.
The complainant had gone to Delhi with her husband, leaving her two children behind and had asked the accused to take care of the house, he said.
On returning from her trip, the complainant found that the accused had left the job without informing her and had not even come to collect her pending salary, the official said.
Subsequently, the complainant found that some of her jewellery had gone missing, following which she approached the police, he said.
The accused has been arrested under section 381 (theft by clerk of servant) of the Indian Penal Code and jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh was recovered from her possession, the official added. PTI ZA ARU ARU
